My boyfriend bathed me with acid

WHEN 27-year-old Miss Oyindamola Faseyi decided to opt out of her three-year-old relationship with her boyfriend , Mr. Jackson Babajide, little did she know she was courting trouble.Olanrewaju

The 2002 OND Financial Studies graduate of The Federal Polytechnic, Offa, claimed she and her boyfriend, an indigene of Edo State, who works at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Ilorin, Kwara State capital, had agreed to get married.

The indigene of Obo-Ayegunle in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, however changed her mind about the plan to get married to her erstwhile boyfriend because of some information she got about her mother-in-law to be.

According to Oyindamola, who refused to state how she met her boyfriend or the information she got about his mother, the decision to pull out of the relationship did not go down well with her boyfriend.

She said “I told him point blank why I wanted to pull out of the relationship. We argued a lot over my decision. I was very blunt while I was telling him my decision and I spoke like a woman, with emotion. Maybe he was hurt or maybe I insulted him, I wouldn’t know, but I took my leave immediately.

“That should be in December 2005,” revealed the ex-student of First Baptist Primary School and Tawakalitu Grammar School, Offa, in Kwara State.

Another issue, which caused conflict between the estranged love birds was the money Oyindamola claimed her boyfriend was owing her, totalling N100,000 ( a hundred thousand naira only).

The second of the five children of a retired security man and a petty trader, Miss Faseyi said she could not afford to forgo the amount the boyfriend was owing her. So, it was like “at long last, he would eventually pay,” when she got a telephone call from her boyfriend in the evening of 21st February, 2006 to come and collect her money.

Not wanting to visit his house, Oyindamola, who resided in Offa, said they both agreed on phone to meet at Royal Covenant, Zango Area, Ilorin.

Reminiscencing about the ill-fated incident, while shedding tears profusely (took some time to calm her down), Miss Faseyi said there was blackout on the fateful day and it was late in the evening. She claimed to be walking towards the meeting point when suddenly, somebody poured a substance, discovered to be acid on her face.

“I shouted for help. The people around came to my rescue. I heard one man threatening my assailant, “If you move there!” I was later taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, where I was on admission for 10 months.

“I later learnt that my assailant was my former boyfriend because the acid poured on his shoulder too and he was taken to the same hospital where I was admitted,” revealed the acid victim.

Oyindamola, whose hope of becoming an accountant was dashed by that singular incident, was eventually discharged from the teaching hospital on 1st December, 2006, for lack of funds.

Although a close family friend, who is a matron, still helps her to clean her eyes and apply a particular ointment on them with sterilised cotton wool daily.

She however explained further that for the 10 months she spent in the hospital, although two doctors were assigned to her, one for the eyes and the other for plastic surgery, it was only the plastic surgery that was taken care of because she would need to be flown out of the country for surgical operations for the eyes.

After due consultation with a hospital in India via e-mail, it was gathered that it would cost her N1.5 million to undergo the surgery and fly her and someone who would be attending to her in India.

Since the unfortunate incident, Oyindamola has depended on someone to help her go through her daily routine as her two eyes are affected.

Meanwhile, with no one to turn to for assistance, Miss Faseyi claimed to have travelled to Maiduguri to raise some money by begging on the streets, but a friend of hers advised her against it, considering the fact that it might take her “eternity” to gather N1.5 million through street begging.

And she was later advised to contact kindhearted Nigerians through the press. Her mother, Mrs. Rachael Faseyi, who has been following her about since 22nd February, 2006, appealed to everybody, especially parents, to come to her daughter’s aid, so that she could regain her sight.

Bursting into fresh tears, Oyindamola said, “I want people to come to my aid. It is like my mother is caged, she is always at my beck and call. She is no longer free. I want to see again, so that my mother too will be free,” she pleaded.

Girl bathes lover with hot soup
By Evelyn Usman
Thursday, March 8, 2007

The sleepy Isikalu street in Olodi Apapa area of Lagos was last week thrown into disarray, following a shrill shout from one of the buildings situated at number 35.

Surprise and shock were the best words to describe the expressions on the faces of occupants of the building, some of whom just came in from their respective  places of work and other residents of the densely populated street, as they rushed to where the shout was coming from.

The curious residents were further startled as they beheld a young man on the floor, groaning in pains. A closer look at the victim, revealed a peeled skin, from his  head to toe, as a result of hot soup taken from the fire, that was poured on him.

The perpetrator? No other person than his girl-friend of two years. The cause? For sleeping with his girl friend’s younger sister.

The victim who was immediately identified as a regular caller at the building, lost consciousness at that point. He was immediately rushed to a near-by hospital, from  where he was referred to another hospital in Festac Town.

Later that day, Christopher Edem, who is a student of the University of Lagos, regained consciousness. But his immediate environment looked strange to him and as  he tried to remember how he got to the hospital, sources at the clinic said he shouted in pidgin English “so this girl been want send me to grave? Wetin I for tell my  God? He thereafter, attempted to sit up but let out a painful shout following the excruciating pains from the burning sensation on his skin.

At that juncture, one was forced to ask what sin he committed to have warranted such devilish treatment not just from a fellow human being but a girl-friend for that  matter.

The answer to that question was got in this interview with no other person than Christopher’s girl friend, Mary Omojiagbe, an indegene of Edo State who has been in  police net since the incident took place.  But from all indications, it was apparent that Mary was unaware of the trouble she was into, as she showed no sign of  remorse at all, coupled by her display of nonchalancy towards the whole thing. Rather,  she was still fuming from the offence committed by her boyfriend which she  described as an abominable act.

Excepts:

May we meet you?

My name is Mary Omojiagbe.  I am from Ewhohinmi, a tribe in Ishan, Edo State. I am 19 years old.

How did you find yourself in Police net?

They said I poured hot water on my boyfriend.

Did you actually do it and was it hot water or hot soup?

I was actually preparing Ogbono soup on the fire when he came to the house. I had already put every other ingredients, remaining the ogbono.

Why did you have to do that?

Can you imagine that he was going out with me and at the same time sleeping with my kid sister? Is that right? I have known him for two years now. Things were moving smoothly between us. But I never knew that he was having a field day sexually with my kid sister. He  started sleeping with her the same year we started going  out. Such act is abominable. It is not only abominable but also forbidden in my place. From where I come from, it is sacrilege for a man to be making love to two  sisters.

But was that enough justification to pour hot soup on a fellow human being?

I did not mean to pour him the hot water. Like I told you I was cooking when he came. After his shameful deed was revealed, I told him to stay away from me that I was no longer interested in the relationship. But he insisted that the relationship must go on that we should put what  had happened behind us and forge ahead. At a  point he threatened to kill me and that I had no right whatsoever to to call it quit except he decided otherwise. He also threatened that he would disfigure me so that  no other person finds me attractive

How did you find out he has been sleeping with your sister?

My sister told me herself. In fact, she told me last December that my boyfriend had slept with her several times and that there was nothing I could do about it.

Were you quarreling when she told you that?

No, we weren’t. She just told me plainly. She said my boy friend threatened her not to tell anyone, that the day she reveals it to anybody she would die. She also said  Christopher ( her boyfriend) said he had taken her name to Guru’s shrine  and that something had been done with her name which will make her die if she disclosed  the act to anyone. But I don’t know what came over her the day she opened up. In fact she said they do it right in the house when everyone would have been away.  She said they have done it not just once, twice or thrice but several times which she could not count. When she told me, my whole life crumbled because I least  expected that Christopher could degrade himself as to be sleeping with my teenage sister. Am I not enough for him?.

How old is your sister in question?

My sister was 14 years old when he started sleeping with her. After the shocking revelation, I asked Christopher and he did not  deny it. That was when I decided to stay away from him. But he would not call the relationship quit. He kept coming and threatened to kill me. When he came last  Saturday, he met me cooking. I told  him to leave but he would not listen. He took a plier and said he would remove my teeth. At that point I became angry because he was now taking that matter serious  It was in that process that I lifted the pot of soup from the fire and poured it on him. I did it out of annoyance because I loved him”.

I know what is going throug your mind right now is that if she loved him pouring hot boiling soup on him does not exactly says that now does it ? Then you might be saying why would the guy be sleeping with the two sisters any way and that he deserves it... wwrong people that boiling soup she poured on him, nobodt deserves to suffer third degree burn because he or had sex with your family member and what may her think it is a strange thing that it took place at all is beyond me.

In modern day america  if you gather at least 100 women i can confidently tell you that more than half of them have add sex with their lovers friend or even family member this also hold same for the guys too, so it is no strange thing at all. Why even some of the cheating family member do know that the person they are having sex with is the boyfriend or girlfriend of their family member.

I think her sister is a much as to blame as the incestious lover too, so whenever she get out of jail maybe she should boil some soup and pour on her.. ha ha ha .. not funny .

why do we listen to this thieves

Let me be the first to say that this people fighting for the presidency of nigeria are no more than  thieves with means, why you say this you ask ? will first off these people are all clamouring over them selves for the money pits we fondly refer to as the president of Nigeria.
i read an acticle a couple of weeks past about the president acquiring some transcorp shares , personally i think that is not  supposed to happen while he is still in office, if he want to buy transcorp shares he should buy when his thieving ass is out of the office and but the way were does he get off buying shares of a company which was a product of the privatization policy he himself introduced. I also think he should be investigated for this and were did the money come from to buy those shares hmm ? it my understanding that this man is a farmer in otta was it ? there is no amount of corn or yams he would sell in a year to cover the purchasing cost of the share he bought, more so the pension he reportedly receives from the government for his days in the military one more reason for him to be investigated.

Obasanjo and third term.....

What was the president thinking when he decided to change the constitution to allow for a third term ?
what is it that he thinks running for a third term would allow him to accomplish ? This man has had two terms in which we did not see the change in the situation of fellow Nigerians but increased the amount of unemployment, devalued the niara and still did not address the problems plaguing the Niger Delta
So my question here is if you did not  improve Nigeria in 8 years as president then why will another four years in power help you.
The time were ex military men come forth as candidates to run for any political seat in Nigeria should be a thing of the past because this people have no ruling skill, all they employ in the position are the things they pick up in the army or whatever branch they served in.
Personally i think politics should be left to people who actually read political science or even have some experience in this kind of environment and not farmers and goat herders.
Time has arrived when the Nigerian people should resist the attempt made by these self men with no interest in the countries welfare.
When you go to the polls do not vote for the man with no concrete plan for the country but for the one who has a plan and an education to back it.

Nigerians in search of greener pastures

During launch break my friend and I sat down to watch TV when a news cast about Nigeria came up, i cannot remember what is was about but i sure remember the conversation it spun out of us both, I think it when in the lines of the amount of money Nigeria loses because of the trouble in Niger Delta, then out of the blue an older man which i have seen before or might have seen but did not take notice of spoke " Nigeria is a beautiful country but it is one of the most corrupt country in the world". At that time the room erupted in laughter  and i tell you i have never been so ashamed in my life about the place i actually come from. I swallow whatever pride i have left and ask the man to tell me all he knows about the country, he then goes on to explain that in 1968 or 69 he was in Nigeria for some business and was struck with awe the size of the buildings not to mention the scope of the architecture. He mentioned the attention to detail  in the infrastructures he visited, the money lavished at the parties he attended also the value of the goods and commodities available to the Nigerian people; He being from another country racked with poverty, his final statement was that Nigeria was self made poor country and i believe him every last word of it.
Why you ask? I am about to explain it now, i am an 80s child so i do not claim to know much about the country but i know enough to make some conclusion on this matter, Nigeria has and probably will be continued to be ruled by corrupt leaders and bad governments , people only interested in lining there pocket rather restoring the country to her former greatness which she once was just take a look at the amount of money the country took in during the unfortunate incident in America ( hurricane kathrina  )   but tell me were all that billions of dollars went to nobody knows ; 60% of the country reportedly lives in poverty  and yet the country still pumps oil from the deltas .
Have you guys who live outside her shores tried to call the people back home only to hey the busy tones because the country has no telphone line or the ones they have is too outdated for it to sustain a proper phone service, poor health facilities are the norm in a place money pours in and dont make start about employment issues; In fact i had pick up an issue of AFRICAN ABROAD-USA, one of the popular african news papers in the united states and on the cover page i read that about 20,000 aplicants showed up for only 25 positions available at the inter continental bank in Lagos, this is so sad to see the high rate of unemployment in Nigeria and to think we haave a government in place yet nothing is being done to curb the unemployment or even the creation of jobs. who will blame the other nigerian fortunate enough to leave the country in search of better living conditions and probably found on the shore of countries like america, united kingdom and gemany but what they fail to tell others is the trouble they go through just to get the visas that allows the access to these contries not to mention the amount money they spent in the process too. you also might not even hear of the treatments get get at the embassy of theses countries, well i heard it is inhumane and just downright disgusting. The journey never ends even when they arrive on the shore of these contries, now they have to start all over again begin to buy things to ensure their suvival that is if the have the money or a job that pays to purchase these things.
Well like my friend said Nigerian are basically people who go to other countries to beg for what they already have but cannot keep it due to mismanagement .
which begs the question are we going to see a Nigeria with an ideal government, better education, health care with great economy, a Nigeria where her citizen would only look towards the north, south, east or west for the greener pastures they seek and not to foreign lands.
